Schilling's Philadelphia Story

My baseball friend who earlier expounded on the A-Rod to Detroit possibility lays out the arguments for Curt Schilling to come "home" to Philadelphia in 2008:

I think Curt would love the idea of returning to a city where he is loved; playing up the "I never wanted to leave but I had to b/c management then didn't have a committment to winning" act;
being on a team that is the best on paper in the NL East; being perceived as the guy who puts them over the top; and competing in a weaker more pitcher-friendly NL where his diminished fastball is not as problematic.  From the Phillies perspective, he gives them the #2 they lost when they sent Myers to the pen; it lengthens their rotation; and it is a PR bonanza.  On the downside, the guy needs to get in better shape and I think he would prefer to return to the Sox, even for less cash.
