This WaPo obit has a great summary that fills in more details of the Keith Jackson commercial about the inspiration for, and the results of, the now ubiquitous sports drink. A Georgia Tech coach credited Gatorade with Florida’s win against them in the ’67 Orange Bowl. And is it possible Gatorade helped win Steve Spurrier the Heisman?
