Charlie Going to be Manager of the Year?!

Looks like Jimmy Rollins is now the odds on favorite to be NL MVP. Deservedly so.

But my friend PK writes about another potential award winning Phillie:

“Charlie Manuel is Manager of the Year. It scares me to say that, and yes, this means he'll be managing them again next season. But he's gonna be NL manager of the year. Unreal. Can't wait for the postseason.

Let's give Charlie his due for this past weekend-plus. He managed the boys, particularly the staff, pretty darn well. Saturday was actually genius in his bullpen work, giving the offense a chance to win the game (which it didn't). But he's a terrible in-game manager. Period.

The only more frustrating in-game coaching is from Andy Reid, who seems largely unaware he's got a QB who's 80% at best and is largely immobile. Andy keeps calling an inordinate # of passes vs. the run, and then - with his newly immobile QB - Andy doesn't do any max protect schemes, certainly none on NYG's No 72.”
